Wallonia Infrastructure Nano FABrication - WINFAB

WINFAB is the micro- and nanofabrication platform of UCL. As a technological platform within the Science and Technology Sector, its main role is to support UCL research activities by providing access to cleanroom environment and high tech equipements, as well as to provide expertise in micro- and nanofabrication techniques.

Mission to the University
The mission of WINFAB to the University is twofold. In strong relation with the Louvain School of Engineering, the educative mission of WINFAB is naturally permanently present. For students at UCL, WINFAB represents a unique opportunity to get in touch with the world of micro and nano fabrication, and to experience themselves the practical work in a clean room environment with high tech equipments.
In combination with its educative mission, WINFAB is also active in research. The technological platform is accessible to PhD students and researchers from various fields (micro-electronics, materials sciences, solid state physics,...).

Mission to the Society
Another aspect of the mission of WINFAB is to make available to the society a performant platform of tools. Local industry can take advantage of the high technology and knowledge of WINFAB to develop and/or improve novel products and techniques. WINFAB also ambitions to reach an active position in existing and future networks of similar institutes.
