Louvain Technology Transfer Office (LTTO)

To serve society

Alongside teaching and research, the University has a third mission: to serve society.

Promotion of knowledge and technology transfer are key factors in this mission, both for the University and for society. Nevertheless, although they allow progress and innovation, they are still long and complex processes because of the very nature of the underlying social interests, and the human and financial resources that they require.

The Louvain Technology Transfer Office - LTTO - was set up to meet these challenges and thus enhance technology transfer and the promotion of knowledge within society.

LTTO brings together teams from the University’s Research Department and Sopartec, UCL’s technology transfer company. Its function is to act as a one-stop shop for the promotion of UCL’s knowledge, operating as a fully integrated technology transfer service available to UCL’s research community and its partners.

LTTO’s strategy is defined by its Board, chaired by Benoît Macq, Public Service Pro-Rector, while the day-to-day management is shared by Anne Bovy, Director of the Research Department, and Philippe Durieux, CEO of Sopartec.
