Institut supérieur de philosophie

The Institut supérieur de philosophie (funded 1889) continues in Louvain-la-Neuve the project supported by Cardinal Mercier to promote philosophical thought in the contemporary world.

Research at the Institut supérieur de Philosophie is organized around six Research centers. The Institute organizes the Chaire Mercier and hosts the annual meetings of the Société philosophique de Louvain.

The activities of the Institut and of its research centers are announced on this page and on the pages of each research center.

The Institute promotes research of confirmed scholars and of PhD students and scholars at early stage of their carrier, in collaboration with the  École doctorale de philosophie. Prospective PhD students should visit the page of the Ecole doctorale for general information about the doctoral programme,  a list of doctoral seminars, and more.

For programs in philosophy at undergraduate and graduate levels, see the École de philosophie (School of Philosophy).

President: Prof. Danielle Lories.
