International Mobility

Today, studying abroad during a degree programme is a fundamental part of being a student at UCL. It allows students to continue studying in their field, improve their language skills and experience another culture.

The Faculty of philosophy, arts and letters has signed agreements with over 100 universities (in Flanders, Europe and worldwide) which facilitate student exchanges between UCL and these universities.

The Erasmus Belgica programme was created in 2004 by the Fondation Prince Philippe. This exchange programme aims to encourage third-level student mobility within the three Communities of Belgium.

The European Erasmus programme is the main vehicle for student mobility in Europe.

In 2001 the Mercator programme was created and is funded by UCL. This programme helps students to follow courses and internships in non-European universities (United States, South America, Asia).
