Mobility funding

The International Relations Department is specifically tasked with keeping the UCL community informed of opportunities for collaboration, exchange and mobility of researchers. Some types of funding come under the Research Department, however.

Individual research grants

These grants are intended for individual researchers who wish to spend time in an institution abroad for the requirements of their thesis or to undertake postdoctoral research.

UCL has set up the Louvain International Desk (LID), one of the main functions of which is to act as the EURAXESS service centre. This service centre is available to researchers planning to work in a different country from their home country, and operates both for inward and outward movements. Researchers who contact the centre will receive advice and help in identifying available sources of funding.

The service is intended for:

* Researchers wishing to work abroad – "Outward" mobility
* Foreign researchers wishing to work at UCL – "Inward" mobility
* Belgian researchers who have spent time abroad and are returning to Belgium - "Return" mobility

Some sources also fund scientific joint ventures.
