Practicals, tutorials and tutorial sessionsAccording to the university course chosen by the student, teaching takes the form of practicals and tutorials or tutorial sessions characterised by various degrees of individual coaching central to the teaching of a work methodology.
Practicals The practicals may take very diverse forms that have the common feature of placing the student in a practical situation. They aim to give students a better understanding of the theoretical models and concepts introduced during the course, through their application in real situations. These sessions also seek to impart the procedural or technical knowledge necessary for professional practice. According to the type of course content taught, these sessions may include:
Tutorial sessions The term 'tutorial session' can cover extremely different realities. However, the session is always held to respond to any difficulties the students might be experiencing.
Tutorials In some faculties, students are encouraged to work in small groups in the framework of practical instruction. They are always accompanied by a tutor, teacher, assistant or senior student trained in this profession (student-monitor). The tutor helps the students to become independent in their learning, to identify the knowledge that they require and to work effectively as a team, etc.
