Preparing your period of study

You have been selected by your home university for an academic stay at UCL? Here you will find the steps to follow in order to prepare your arrival at UCL:
  • Acceptance and registration
Send your application for registration to your host faculty at UCL, as soon as possible and before May 31st (1st semester) or November 30th (2nd semester).

  • ECTS Learning agreement
Elaborate and formalize your courses choice through an ECTS Learning agreement. If any help or advice is needed, don not hesitate to contact the person in charge of student exchange at the UCL host faculty.

  • Accommodation
Take all necessary steps to book accommodation in advance. Attention: UCL accommodation is limited and the reservations are made following the principle ‘first-come, first-served’. In case there would be no more UCL accommodation available, the UCL Housing service can give you some information about host families or private agencies.

  • Visa
In case you need a visa to enter Belgium, take all the necessary steps at the Belgian Embassy from your home country (through the acceptance letter that will be sent after the registration of your application for registration at the Student office).

  • Health care and insurance
Get the European social security card (for EU students + Norway and Iceland) or a valid insurance for Belgium (non-EU students). We highly recommend you to subscribe a complementary comprehensive insurance.
