Researcher employed under an employment contract
A work permit is required for any researcher from a country outside the European Economic Area. Any researcher signing an employment contract is subject to the applicable Belgian legislation. The employment contract must be signed no later than two days before taking up a post. The employment contract is signed not only by the employer and the employee, but also by the supervisor, line manager and the research agreement supervisor financing the employment contract. The salary is defined according to a grade, scale and seniority stipulated in the rules governing the contractual situation. Researchers employed under an employment contract are subject to employee social security contributions. This entitles them to receive social security benefits. Should you have any questions concerning your current or future contract, please contact the Human Resources Department: Ms Santina Bongiovanni (surnames from A to J) or Ms Marie Ducamp (surnames from K to Z). Please also see our UCL Funding for researchers page.
