Management
The full name of the Institute is Louvain School of Management Research Institute (En) and Institut Louvain School of Management (Fr), the abbreviation is ILSM. The official address of ILSM is ILSM, Université catholique de Louvain, 1 place des Doyens, B-1348 Louvain-la- Neuve. The graphical identity of the institute is identical to LSM. The use of letterhead paper and presentations should correspond to LSM. No specific business cards will be issued for the academic members of ILSM, as ILSM is an integral part of the LSM identity.
The statutes of the institute (ROI) were approved Nov 13, 2009 by the Faculty of LSM at LLN. The statutes follow the general regulations issued by UCL July 8, 2009 pertaining to research institutes. A minor change was voted at the Council of May 3, 2010 extending membership in the Institute for all doctoral students at the partner universities in LSM for whom the thesis advisor is a member of the Institute, this amendment was approved by the Academic Council.
The Institute is the first research institute operating across the Academy Louvain. Within the Academy Louvain, the Institute retains all rights and obligations of the Research Commission, subject to the supervision of COMEX, the LSM School Council and the LSM Strategic Board.
The internal decision-making instances of the Institute consist of the President, the Board and the Council. The Institute is subordinate to and represented in the Sector for Human Sciences (SSH), the Board of SSH and (by its President) the Academic Council (CA) of UCL.
Membership
For funding purposes, the UCL members are either assigned (affectés) or affiliated (affiliés) with the institute. A UCL faculty member or researcher can only be assigned to one institute and the base endowment from the university follows the number of assigned members. Additionally, a faculty member or researcher can have a second optional affiliation. For non- UCL members, this distinction does not apply and those that are concerned by the Convention LSM directly or indirectly through a promotor are assigned to the Institute.
The Institute counts a limited number of members, professors and researchers, that are not LSM faculty members. According to the ROI, these members enjoy the same rights and obligations as LSM members.
All teaching assistants (category ST) are by the Convention LSM assigned to the institute, even if their promotor is assigned to another institute. However, the basic rule is that the assignment of research assistants follows the assignment of their promotor.
Administrative staff members have a unique assignment to either the faculty or the institute.
