Student card and access pass

If you do not yet have your UCL access pass (smartcard), the Office of the Registrar will send it separately to your home address in Belgium or, failing that, to your term-time address in Belgium, a few days after you receive your registration notice, provided that you have included a passport-size colour photo with a white background in your registrationapplication.
Students who do not have either a home address or a term-time address in Belgium are asked to collect their pass from the Office of the Registrar (at the start of the academic year) within ten days of receipt of their registration notice.

If you already have a pass, remember it is valid for the duration of your studies at UCL.

Note:
  • If you remain registrated at UCL, your pass will continue to be valid until 31 October of the following calendar year. Its validity will be automatically extended by a year each time you re-register for the next academic year. We therefore advise you to look after it carefully, as replacement can be time-consuming and you will be charged (EUR 20 per replacement pass).
  • UCL’s HR Department is responsible for ordering smartcards for students who are also UCL staff members.
  • You can find full details about the smartcard on the smartcard site (activation, use, renewal in the event of loss or theft, etc.).

Don’t forget:

Once you are registrated at UCL, you will be entitled to various services: access to the UCL portal, use of an e-mail address and personal electronic mailbox, access to the libraries and to the iCampus teaching platform, etc.

To make use of these services, you need to activate your UCL user account by following the special procedure.
